Have you ever been to a business and the team is really jiving together? There is plenty of laughter, maybe even slight levels of sarcasm? Have you also experienced a work place where the energy is the exact opposite? Negative vibes poison the airways? They are dynamic polar opposite and its evident even if no one specifically lays it out for you to discover. What are the magical ingredients of the positive environment so we can multiply the recipes? The following blog is all about this! I lay out current research as well as personal and professional experiences and input from YOU. Keep reading all the way to Move Happy®️ Updates to see our ranking for the listening room 🎶 invitation! Enjoy 😉
Dynamic Essential #1: Know what does mastering our mindset at work looks like.
I found an interesting study conducted in Australia titled: “Having some fun with it: A Theoretical Review and Typology of Activity-Based Play-At-Work.” They studied 122 work related articles on play activities.
What stood out to me was the break down of categories of play (i.e. play initiated by supervisors, play initiated by co-workers, joking around, etc) and how that impacted the work environment.

Dynamic Essential #2: Know what science says about mastering our mindsets at work.
I found a great study conducted in Belgium, France and Texas Universities titled: “Uncovering The Dark Side of Gamification at Work: Impacts on Engagement and Well-being.” They conducted 3 studies on workplace engagement using gamification. The first 2 studies include forced participation while the 3rd study allowed for employees to opt in.
What stood out to me was the engagement improved and workplace satisfaction improved when employees had a choice in participating. They also lost engagement when they were forced to participate in gamification activities. Companies that include gamification should take note of this! It reminds me of a time when I worked for a tech company. Every Friday we had team wide forced games. For the most part, everyone seemed to enjoy the experience. However, one of my colleagues mentioned how she wished we had an option to skip it if we had a sales call to prepare for. We all just rushed back to the phones to take our sales presentations or left a minute or two early and didn’t fully get to play the game. Either way, it probably would have worked better if they asked us for our input.

Dynamic Essential #3: Know what the global impact of mastering our mindset at work is.
I found a spectacular E-book perfect for this subject. It’s titled: “The 2020 Workplace: How Innovative Companies Attract, Develop, and Keep Tomorrow’s Employees Today” Included in the book is a global survey of over 2200 employees and what they seek for in employment.
What stood out to me was the fact it was available for FREE on google scholar and has some great information!

Dynamic Essential #4: Know what some simple solutions to mastering our mindset at work include.
Do you want to be featured on all Move Happy Social Media and weekly blog? Drop your best ideas to this question in the comments below for a chance to win. Here is an idea to get you started. Write down something you are not satisfied personally with at work (maybe your sales results or activities). Write it down and to the right, re-write it in a positive affirmation and recite it aloud a few times a day (i.e. “I am improving the number of calls I make and the quality of calls to help me reach my sales goals”).

Have you heard about the Veterans and First Responders Non Profit Concert 🎶 Series? Maybe you see an old battle buddy you were stationed with overseas, or maybe you meet your next wife as she’s a black star and lost her spouse in battle? You never know what could happen at our concerts 💜. The next concert is May 29th 9p-11p CST. The music theme is Hip-Hop and R&B. We have confirmed Choreographer/Dancer Jimmy Shields, and Singers Joshland Shervette, and Addam and possibly his buddy. We have 1 more slot left for a singer. Email me if you’re interested in participating erin@themovehappy.com.
It’s 100% free for guests unless they feel like tipping my guest performers. Any extra dollars donated to ENM will go right back to making the concert series better for our Veterans and First Responders and eventually covering travel costs for our annual in person event (including medical symposium to help improve how people with mental illness are treated in medical facilities and in the work place from top level medical providers around the globe 🌎).
Want to help ENM Grow and Impact more people? We’re looking for 2-3 more Board Members with Non Profit Experience (preferably either Veterans and/or First Responders). Please email erin@themovehappy.com to set up a conversation and check out the website for more info here.
Dynamic Essential #5: Know how Move Happy can empower you to master your mindset at work.
I’m proud of a workshop I designed specifically for this struggle. Depression is one of the most expensive conditions globally and also the least funded. The World Health Organization estimated back in 2019 that over $1 trillion dollars of productivity is lost in the workplace because of lack of resources for people with depression and anxiety specifically. I have designed a workshop and 1:1 consultation offering for businesses that want to help improve their productivity, decrease absenteeism and boost employee engagement and satisfaction.
If you run an organization and would like an initial conversation, comment “ME” below or shoot me an email to erin@themovehappy.com. I have space for 1 company 50 employees or less for the month of May. The first company to sign up for the Work Happy Workshop from this post will receive an additional bonus of a signed copy of my book “Whole Life Affirmations” for each employee.
Additionally, 40% of your purchase will go back to your preferred mental health organization and local chapter of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Simply email me a copy of your receipt and links to your preferred charities.
So there you have it folks. Mastering your mindset at work is possible and it is necessary. If you cannot change your job and the culture is toxic, you must change your attitude and perspective. Avoid the poison at all costs, and figure out how you can add more value than ever possible. As Jim Rohn has often said, spend more time working on you than your job and you’ll grow your fortune. You’ll also learn to add more value to the position by being more valuable. Surround yourself around people that do what you wish to aspire to be able to do.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s blog! I love you all. If this added any value to you, it would mean the world to me if you’d share it with someone you care about.
PS: Don’t forget to tell someone you love them today…
