Variety is the spice of life. Learning new skills ads variety to you which can keep you interesting, expand your brain power, and increase your ‘real friends list.’ People in western society tend to shy away from new skills because of the unwritten code of perfectionism. You need to let that ish go! Try something new, join a meet up, make some new friends, and see how your life can be completely transformed. If you’re not totally convinced yet, have a look at the top reasons to joining something new below.

Reason #1: The magic happens in our ‘uncomfort zone.’ When we make the decision to stretch ourselves outside of our comfort zone, we do ourselves a favor. Read this article and see what rings most true for you…

I had the pleasure of interviewing PhD Candidate Michael for my blog. He can be reached on Instagram @Learn_psychology_. I wanted to get some tips from him on positive mindset and community building for you! Here is a little background on him..

Can you share a bit of your background related to mindset and your theoretical approach?

“I am 1 year away from PhD Candidacy, specializing in neurological research, specifically with children that are not able to identify emotional states based on facial expressions and postures provided. I started the instagram page as a hobby. I do not necessarily believe in positivity but more of resilience to deal with issues as they arise and strategies to cope during tough times.”

What advice would you give our readers who want to improve their mindset?

“Focus on coping skills and strategies to overcome tough times.”

Move Happy™ is about building community. What tips do you have for our readers who want to get connected to a community?

“Join a sports team! It is a great way to get physical and connect with others. It is great for releasing endorphins.”

Move Happy™ is also about fitness for life, even if your budget is tight. What’s your favorite way to move your body?

“I like going to the gym and soccer.”

Any other tips you want to share with our audience?

If you are diagnosed with mental illness and prescribed medication, take your medication consistently along with a healthy diet and exercise.

Lastly for fun, if you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?

I would be Xavier from X-Men because he was extremely intelligent and could read people’s minds. I would be able to help even more people if I knew what they actually were thinking.

Thanks Michael for your contribution! Everyone should follow him for great memes explaining different psychological conditions in simple ways to understand…..
