Have you ever tried to pump yourself up through your words? Maybe you were on your way up the elevator to that interview of your dreams. Or maybe you were about to ask her to marry you. The words we say to ourself about ourselves have power. They can make us or break us. The following blog is all about positive affirmations and our mindset. I incorporate science, personal and professional experiences and if you participated in social media this week on Move Happy®️channels, chances are you got a feature too. Here for the 🎶Listening Room Competition?🎶 ? Scroll all the way to the “Move Happy®️ and Erin Nicole Ministries Updates section.
Dynamic Aspect #1: Know what are affirmations and how they can help our mindset.
I found a neat study done out of the University of California titled: “Teacher-versus researcher-provided affirmation effects on students’ task engagement and positive perceptions of teachers.” They measured whether affirmations facilitated by teachers or researchers with high school students was more effective.
What stood out to me was, the fact they found when teachers were facilitating the affirmations, students felt they were cared for beyond school boundaries and actually wrote more during the activities.
What stood out to you most from the study? Check it out in the comments and share your thoughts and stories
Dynamic Aspect #2: Know what science says about affirmations and mindset.
I found an awesome study published by the Atlantis Press titled: “The Impact of Self Affirmation Towards Stress and Anxiety Levels of Pregnant Women.” They measured whether these love cards and deep breathing exercises could help lower stress of pregnant women better than the regular training.
What stood out to me was that it worked!
Go to Google Scholar and type in the title as is and download a copy of the paper yourself.
I’d love to know your thoughts and stories that pop up (especially if you’re pregnant now or have been, or have been an involved father in the process and have utilized affirmations before)
Dynamic Aspect #3: Know what the global impact of using affirmations can be on your mindset
I found a spectacular study conducted by the CDC titled: “Association of Spontaneous and Induced Self-Affirmation With Smoking Cessation in Users of a Mobile App: Randomized Controlled Trial.” They measured whether or not self affirmations were effective at helping smokers quit smoking.
What stood out to me was those that were happy and reported more optimism reported a higher success rate of quitting as opposed to those that were sad. Sadness and pessimism were connected to smoking more.
What stood out to you? Check it out in the comments and share your thoughts, ideas and stories below
Dynamic Aspect #4: Know what are some simple affirmations that can help improve your mindset.
Self affirmations are statements that get your mind in a positive direction. You can look them up on google or write your own. I find writing down the thoughts that my mind states out (mostly negative thoughts) then rewriting them in a positive proactive way is the most effective. Do what works for you.
Here are some samples from Move Happy®️ Fans: Dan Wilson said “Just Do It” and included the Nike Logo. Thanks Dan! Garfield Reece said: “I am grateful for all that I have.” Thanks Garfield!

Dynamic Aspect #5: Know how Move Happy can help empower you through affirmations.
I’m super pumped about a program I designed for patients in one of the most sensitive populations in the world, a locked psychiatric hospital. The program was such a big hit we maxed capacity every round (3) and I even earned a promotion that I was told no one in 30 years was ever interviewed for without a state license. I have since upgraded the program to make it even better for your audience. The goal of the program is to help improve happiness and fitness for all.
Included in the program is 16-weeks of daily journal prompts, group discussion, and workouts with minimal equipment. During the warm-up and warm-down periods of the program I designed affirmations for you to facilitate and use as mantras with your group. I have a strong feeling they’ll love them and eventually I encourage you, like I’ve done for myself, to help them write their own affirmations to be even more effective! Additionally, I have included a Happiness Psychological Questionnaire and Fitness Questionnaire to help you measure progress throughout. Lastly, you’ll also get access to the 60+ workout demo videos that were videographed from one of Macklemore ’s buddies! He helped film some videos for the famous “Thriftshop” rapper a few years back and LOVED my story and decided to help me out for you. Thanks Sunshine Whitton.

So there you have it folks. Affirmations are powerful in helping our mindset. They can be used out loud, internally, and also often. You can write your own which is the most powerful or you can read aloud affirmations that others have written to help your mindset too. When writing your own affirmations make sure to write out the negative statement on the left hand side of the paper as it is played in your mind. On the right hand side re-write the negative statement into a positive proactive phrase that will help move you towards your intended goals. Most importantly, share the use of affirmations with your children and youth you work with. Depression can impact all ages, races, and belief systems. If we can equip people at young ages to combat the negative mindset early on, we can help transform a generation.
I hope this blog added value to you. If it did, it would mean the world to me if you’d share it with someone you care about.
PS: Don’t forget to tell someone you love them today.
