Intro: Is it a wonder how people get ahead in life? It seems like the rich get richer and the poor well, they find ways to survive. Then there are those special outliers we’ll call them unicorns, that seem to find ways to be sparkling pieces of joy and attract abundance everywhere they go.

Have you ever met a unicorn? I’m talking about that really happy person that gets to know the real You, that wants to make a difference in Your life and can make everyone in the room feel like They are the Most Important Person.

What do these unicorns have in common? It’s simple you see, they are the ones offering to help others first. They think first how they can make a positive difference and because of this, an abundance of love, wealth and health is attracted to them. Some are born this way, but many learn from other unicorns how to become one. The following are reasons why you should be like those unicorns (and a Dope interview with a Unicorn herself)!

Interview With A Unicorn Misty Janicek

Q: Can you share a bit of your background (family, occupation, recreation, motivations)?

A: I’m a positive and crazy wife and mom to 4 girls. I work full-time as an Executive Assistant and enjoy working out, being outdoors, music/singing, volunteering for various non-profit organizations in my community and moderating the Planet Fitness Facebook Member’s page. My biggest motivation is my children and wanting to lead by example and also making a difference in my community/family.

Q: Move Happy™ is about improving mindset. What advice would you give our readers who want to improve their mindset?

A: In my opinion, our mindset is the biggest challenge on our fitness journey. To improve your mindset, do things daily that feed your soul. Offer yourself the same kindness and compassion that you offer to others. When our mindsets (we) change, so does the world around us.

Q: Move Happy™ is about building community. What tips do you have for our readers who want to get connected to a community?

A: If you’re desiring to be a part of a community I would suggest exploring. What I mean by that is, try different means until you find the right fit for you. Whether that be church, family, a local support group, an online fitness group, etc. Be brave and reach out and try new things, step out of your comfort zone but don’t lose yourself on your search for your tribe (community).

Q: Move Happy™ is also about being fit for life, even if your budget is tight. What’s your favorite way to move your body that doesn’t cost much?

A: When I’m not at Planet Fitness, I’m at the trail. The good thing about fitness/exercise is that it doesn’t have to cost a dime. Google is right at your fingertips for at-home workouts and there are budget friendly gyms out there that are affordable.

Q: Any other tips you want to share with our audience?

A:  Find what works for you and is sustainable for your schedule/lifestyle. What works for others might not work for you and that is okay; try not to get discouraged. Lose the scale, go by how you feel and how your clothes fit and remember that the scale can’t measure your worth. Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated, try to shy away from soda and energy drinks or any beverage with artificial sweetener. Get plenty of quality sleep. It is so important and a vital part of your health and muscle recovery. Change your self-talk, it’s powerful. Baby steps. Small efforts, day in and day out will add up to big results. Mental health is just as important as physical health, be sure to have compassion and kindness for yourself. Be gentle with yourself, on good days and the not so good days.

Q: Lastly for fun, if you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?

A: We should all aspire to be our own superhero! Personally, I’d be a cross between Wonder Woman, Garfield and Penny from The Big Bang Theory.

Is it any wonder why there aren’t more unicorns? Reach out to people you want to connect with and offer support. Reach out to people you look up to and offer support. It can strengthen the bond within your family when you offer support. At your workplace it can improve that situation by offering support. You can even improve your neighborhood by offering support. Be that unicorn, be the first to take action. I guarantee you’ll never regret what you choose to do.

By the way, apologies for not posting this on my regular Saturday posting… my friend was in town and we were exploring Tennessee together!

(Jason and I getting our dance on between selfies) – He is a major unicorn!

PS: Don’t forget to tell someone you love them today…
